I see you about to walk by
so I ram into you full-force
(because you’re in football,
and you can take it)
And you shove back so i
(accidentally)
shove innocent hallway-walkers.
You keep pushing me back.
(You’re even stronger than you used to be.)
But I blame the (lack of) grip on my old flats.
I kick you lightly in the leg (just so you back up)
And I put my guard up.
And (before you do the same)
you get this look.

I remember that look
from the movies, that night in the corn maze,
your room, and that time in your dad’s car.
This sad-sweet-mourning-lovely look.
The most delicate look I’ve ever seen on someone
who would push a girl (with no grip on her flats)
past three classrooms and into several people.
You’re not allowed to get that look anymore.
Not since a year ago next week.
This one might be a little confusing for you all that don't know me... ^^;

From back in the good ol' days as a full-time student.

I still wonder exactly what that look means.

Perfect expression of camaraderie turned awkward--and how getting physical with football players never ends with the chick winning. ;)
